For Therapists and Professionals

What Industry Professionals Need to Know About Harmony Place Monterey’s Approach to Therapy.

Harmony Place Monterey features Co-Directors Dr. Mark Schwartz and Lori Galperin MSW, formerly of Masters and Johnsons, and offers Intensive Outpatient Treatment (IOP) for four hours daily, five days a week, or Partial Hospitalization (PHP) for six hours a day, five days a week.

Dr. Mark Schwartz has spent over 30 years studying those who struggle with eating disorders.  His clinical experience and curiosity have given him tremendous insight into the nature of this extraordinary affliction, including an understanding of the temperaments and coexisting conditions most often associated with eating and intimacy disorders.

  1. Our Therapy Program is unique and is designed for when outpatient or residential is not enough.
  2. Our clients are given three Individual Therapy Sessions each week to do the deeper work on the factors causing and maintaining chronic relapse.
  3. Our clients will stay live in a beautiful house with other clients to provide extra support across the off-hours, with coaching provided for high-risk situations.
  4. We utilize life coaches that are also sober coaches to help clients not avoid implementing the necessary changes, including the rebuilding of skills associated with completing school work, attending meetings, making and keeping friends, going on dates, eating in restaurants, succeeding at meal plans, and so on…
  5. We work with chronic relapse, often is the case for those suffering multiple addictions; we specializes in chemical dependency, eating disorders, sexual difficulties, and co-dependency.
  6. We specialize in treatment of Disorders of Intimacy and Attachment. We have lectured to over 10,000 professionals throughout the US on our unique treatment for improving relational intimacy.
  7. We combine 12-step, cognitive behavioral, mindfulness and acceptance therapies with deeper affect-based therapies.
