Mental Health and Addiction Recovery Housing
Harmony Treatment Centers provides unsupervised transitional living apartments where selected clients form a supportive, therapeutic community.
Transitional living is a bridge between intensive in-patient treatment and independent living. This environment offers structure and connection away from home triggers, while also allowing clients from outside the area to participate fully in their recovery. Our model is similar to sober living environments but designed specifically for mental health and dual-diagnosis recovery, with added clinical and therapeutic support.
Life Skills Learned in Transitional Living Programs
Recovery is more than symptom management. It’s learning how to navigate daily life with purpose. In our transitional living housing, clients build practical and emotional skills, including:
- Social interaction and communication
- Building healthy dating and intimacy practices
- Developing routines for school or career-building
- Cooking and meal preparation for nutrition and wellness
- Engaging in activities that once felt overwhelming
- Relearning how to enjoy everyday life without fear
The Role of Community in Transitional Living
Recovery cannot happen in isolation. At Harmony, clients benefit from a therapeutic community where peers support one another, and staff provide guidance, coaching, structure, and encouragement. This sense of belonging ensures that clients do not walk the recovery path alone.
Transitional Living for Addiction Recovery and Relapse Prevention
For clients working through addiction recovery, our transitional living program provides a safe, supportive alternative to traditional sober living. While our environment is designed for increasing independence, we maintain appropriate safeguards to support sobriety. Transitional living at Harmony is unsupervised, allowing clients to practice real-world accountability, yet for those in addiction recovery, we include urine monitoring to ensure ongoing stability. In the event of relapse, we respond with care and clinical integrity, referring clients to higher levels of treatment when needed. This balance of structure and trust helps clients pursue school, work, and life goals while maintaining a strong foundation in recovery.
Who Benefits Most from Transitional Living at Harmony?
Our supervised transitional housing is especially helpful for:
- Clients who need support stepping down from in-patient programs to PHP or IOP programs
- Individuals traveling from outside California seeking extended care
- Those who have struggled in multiple treatment programs without long-term success
- Young adults learning independence in a structured environment
- Clients balancing both mental health challenges and addiction recovery
Please note that our transitional housing is required for clients coming to Harmony Treatment Centers from outside of the Monterey and South Bay areas. Transitional housing is optional for anyone in the Monterey and South Bay areas.
